Luksfera is a Warsaw-based gallery, which presents, promotes and sells Polish black and white art photography. It co-operates with the most renowned Polish photographers and organises exhibitions and various photography-related events. Luksfera has been on the market for over three years. It first operated through its website and in January 2004 found its location in a 19th century factory in ul. Ząbkowska, in the old district of Praga. It is the first gallery in Warsaw to sell art photography.

Our gallery has its beginnings in Group of Photographers "poniekąd", which we set up in 1997 together with students from the Department of Polish Studies at the University of Warsaw. Later the group changed its name to Association of Photographers "poniekąd". Promoting art photography, organising exhibitions and photo-events, which we do now in Galeria Luksfera is therefore a natural progression for us.

As Group of Photographers "poniekąd" we organised the following events:
  • exhibition entitled "Now it's Us", [Teraz My] on the premises of the Department of Polish Studies at the University of Warsaw, May 1997
  • a joint exhibition entitled "Suskie Oblężenie", on the premises of the Department of Polish Studies at the University of Warsaw, December 1997
  • exhibition of photograps by Franciszek Strzeszewski, entitled "A Portrait of a Village. Photographs from Węgajty" [Portret pewnej wsi. Fotografie z Węgajt] in the gallery of the Warsaw Culture Centre, February 2000
As Association of Photographers "poniekąd" we organised:
  • outdoor exhibition of photographs, entitled "In a Pedestrian Street" [W ciągu pieszym], along the rampart of the Old Town in Warsaw.
As Galeria Luksfera:
  • we co-corganised the Festival of Black and White Photography in Zakopane providing media coverage for the event. 14.01-20.01.2002 - Zakopane, January 2002:
  • we provided media coverage for the exhibition entitled "Blow-up. Photographs in Times of Commotion" [Powiększenie. Fotografie w czasach zgiełku] - Festival of Black and White Photography Zakopane - Warsaw 2002 - The Palace of Culture and Science, Warsaw, October 9th - November 9th 2002

We presented the works of three young Polish photographers and were responsible for choosing the photographs as well as arranging the exposition. The Festival in Łódź attracted more than a couple of thousand people and our exhibition was very well received.
